What also stood out in today’s reading was the parallel w/the story of Ruth - that Christ is our Kinsman Redeemer.

I am still puzzled about the situation of slavery in the Bible. Impoverished members of the nation of Israel could sell themselves into indentured service to pay off debt. God commanded their “owners” to treat them kindly. But Leviticus 25 talks about slaves purchased from surrounding nations and how the Israelites could own them forever and pass them to their children as an inheritance. Is this a good thing?
